Ambient Raag Kafi (vocals)

about

The origin of this track comes from a friend of mind, who also plays on the track teaching me about Raag Kafi. He had just given me the basic outline of the scale shortly before the time I recorded the ambient portion of this track. I was co-facilitating a yoga and meditation session called Ambient Vinyasa and recorded the guitar parts which were inspired by Raag Kafi. Later I played the track for vocalist Arvind Kumar Arora and he lit up and began singing. It was long after we decided to do a recording session to capture his ideas. On a separate occasion I had recorded Will Marsh on sitar. It wasn't until both parts were recorded until I actually listened to both at the same time. At the suggestion of Saheb Singh (Tabla) we mixed all the parts together to create this new version of Ambient Raag Kafi. The ending goes into an extended ambient section which makes this track excellent choice to accompany the last 20 minutes of a yoga set with deep relaxing savanna.
